Reiki courses at Sunshine Holistics in Hertford take place in a calm and welcoming space, where you can learn the Usui method in a relaxed and supportive environment. Whether you’re beginning your journey with Reiki 1, continuing with Reiki 2, or progressing to Master Teacher level, all courses are taught by Nikki Hastings, a fully qualified Reiki Master Teacher (since 2006) and member of the UK Reiki Federation. 

With over 20 years’ experience of Reiki, Nikki offers small group courses and one-to-one training to ensure you receive personal guidance, plenty of hands-on practice, and leave feeling confident and inspired to use Reiki – whether for personal growth or professional practice.

Who Can Learn Reiki?

Reiki is for everyone. It’s open to all ages and backgrounds and attracts people from all walks of life.  You don’t need any special skills or previous experience to learn Reiki.  Although spiritual in nature, Reiki is not a religion and doesn’t require any particular belief system. 

How Is Reiki Taught?

Reiki is taught in a unique way through a series of attunements passed from the Reiki Master/Teacher to the student. This process opens your natural connection to Reiki energy, allowing it to flow through you with ease. Once attuned, Reiki becomes part of who you are and is something you can use whenever you choose, whether for self-care, to support others, or as part of a professional practice.

The Reiki 1 Course is perfect for complete beginners and requires no previous experience or knowledge. It gives you the ability to use this healing energy for yourself, your loved ones – and even your pets.

Throughout the two days, you’ll learn about the background and principles of Reiki, experience your own attunements to Reiki energy, and gain plenty of hands-on practice. By the end of the course, you’ll feel confident and ready to give treatments and to use Reiki as part of your daily life.

The Reiki 2 Course is the next step for anyone wishing to deepen their connection with Reiki and expand their skills. Building on what you learned in Reiki 1, this course introduces three sacred Reiki symbols that enhance the strength and focus of your healing. You’ll also learn how to send Reiki across time and distance, supporting people and situations wherever they may be.
Reiki 2 strengthens your intuition, deepens your personal practice, and opens the door to working professionally with Reiki should you choose to do so.

During the course you’ll explore:

  • Discussion of Reiki experiences since Level 1
  • Introduction to the 3 sacred Reiki symbols
  • How to apply symbols during a treatment
  • Healing on physical, emotional and mental levels

Feeling a little out of practice? This personalised 1:1 Reiki Refresher Course is designed for anyone who has previously learned Reiki and wishes to reconnect with the energy, refresh their skills, and rebuild confidence in their practice.
Whether you trained in Reiki Level 1, Level 2, or Reiki Master/Teacher, your session will be tailored to your individual needs – allowing you to revisit techniques, reignite your connection with Reiki energy, and ask any questions you may have.
The refresher course includes a comprehensive manual and a Reiki attunement to your current level, helping you to deepen your practice and restore your natural flow.
Format: 1:1 tuition (in-person)
Length: Usually 2–4 hours (to be agreed in advance)
Includes: Reiki manual and attunement

I hold regular Reiki Share evenings in Hertford for anyone who has attended a Reiki course with me. These evenings are a lovely opportunity to connect with like-minded people, practise giving and receiving Reiki, and share experiences in a relaxed, supportive environment.
During each session, everyone has the chance to both give and receive Reiki (often from more than one person at a time), and we finish with a calming group meditation. It’s a beautiful way to reconnect with Reiki, build confidence, and leave feeling balanced and refreshed.  

My Reiki Story

Reiki has been a huge part of my life since 2001, when I first attended a Reiki 1 course to help relieve stress and anxiety. The experience had such a profound impact that I went on to complete Reiki 2, and in 2006 I became a qualified Reiki Master/Teacher in the Usui tradition of Reiki.

Since then, Reiki has continued to guide and inspire me, both personally and professionally. It’s a real privilege to share this beautiful healing technique with others and to witness the positive changes it brings to people’s lives.
